Day 18 – A fly by through L.A./Hollywood

The girls woke up after a blissful night under the stars. That will definitely be a thing to remember. It was a gorgeous morning so we made plans to meet Jerri (Debbi’s wonderful friend since 3rd grade) and her daughter Libby at Santa Monica beach for some fun in the sand and surf. We spent about an hour at muscle beach, where the girls enjoyed themselves climbing ropes, swinging on the rings and flipping on the uneven bars. Physical fitness is pretty intense on the west coast. We even watched a boot camp in progress for 3-4 year olds! Sit ups, crunchs et al….where are you in my life ?

The water was colder than on the east coast but the waves were exciting. After a short time, we dried off, packed up and headed for an afternoon of sightseeing in the L.A./Hollywood area. The girls piled into Jerri’s car, where they received a guided tour through Beverly Hills, down Rodeo Drive and through Hollywood. We stopped at the Kodak Theatre, the Grumann’s Theatre and walked several blocks looking at “the walk of stars”. We decided that sightseeing in Hollywood is overly commercialized so and all about plastic and the almighty dollar so our visit was brief. But we couldn’t leave Hollywood without a flyby of my grandparents’ home. My family will be happy to know that the house looks the same (except for a few extra weeds) and I’ll be returning to N.Y. with photos. Once again I felt like the paparazzi snapping unauthorized photos.

Once we arrived in Woodland Hills, Jerri’s home and our resting spot for two nights, we relaxed and the girls swam. It was nice to be in a home setting again. We enjoyed a BBQ with Jerri, Brian and Libby and wrapped up the evening with a visit to Menchies, a fantastic fro yo spot -a terrific idea for all you entrepreneurs in Cross River.

Time for a good night sleep,
Debbi

  2. Hi Debra...You know, Norm and I have cruised by 1153 Point View about once a year, and I'm glad you did to (I was going to ask if you wanted to do that. Really!) I think the house looks very happy, with more flowers down the entry walk and children's toys in the back driveway. I remember SO many dinners with your family, Pam and Sheila, us, even your mom's parents too there. Looking back, pretty amazing that Nanny put dinner on for so many of us, with her china, silver, crystal...and no dishwasher to boot!

Happy memories, for sure. With lots of time ahead to create new ones for our kids, eh?

    xoxo
    hugs too!
